The MegaCentre Sensory Room is a special, peaceful place that has a range of stimulating experiences that enhance learning, development and relaxation for babies, young children and their carers.
All the equipment within the Sensory room reacts to your child’s presence and comes to life through their movement, touch and noise. The specially selected equipment helps children learn through exploration and interaction and develop skills and senses. Different colours, lights, sounds and feelings all provide new and exciting experiences for little ones using the space.
Some benefits of using the sensory room are:
- Hand to eye co-ordination as little eyes track lights and bubbles
- Colour and shape recognition
- Gross and fine motor skills through playing with toys
- Cause and Effect through interaction with equipment that responds
- Speech and Language development through exploration
- Baby-parent bonding through session activities and calming environment
All our Sensory Play sessions are run by our fully qualified Sensory Play Worker, with sessions having a different focus and a range of activities.
All Sensory Play sessions cost £3.50 per child and booking in advance is recommended.
Socks must be worn at all times during our sensory sessions
Our Relaxing sessions are aimed at providing a peaceful experience for both parents and little ones through the use of soothing music and gentle lighting in our specially equipped sensory room. The session involves time to freely explore the sensory equipment and different play activities each week followed by a selection of gentle songs to end the session.
Our Chatty sessions focus on positive communication and sparking an interest in language through stories and songs for little ones. Each session begins with free-play exploration of the room and our sensory equipment followed by a themed story session with interactive props for the children. Finally we end the session with a few of our favourite songs and our goodbye song ‘If You’re Happy and You Know It’.
Our Musical session is a fun and upbeat session for babies and toddlers to create music with our state-of-the-art interactive equipment as well as traditional musical instruments. Each session begins with free-play exploration of the sensory room followed by gathering together to explore the musical instruments and sing along to popular nursery rhymes and action songs. This session is a great way of developing Physical and Communication skills as well as promoting Expressive Arts development through play.
Our Explorer session is aimed at stimulating development through child-led sensory play. During the sessions little ones have the opportunity to experience all the Sensory Room has to offer including interactive light displays and special mirrors as well as a variety of sensory activities which are swapped around throughout the session to provide a wide variety of play experiences. The fun-filled session finishes with joining together to sing ‘If You’re Happy and You Know It’ to say goodbye everyone.
Our Rhyming sessions are designed to be a fun introduction to nursery rhymes and songs. Each session starts with time for the children and babies to explore our specialised sensory play equipment freely before we gather together to begin our Rhymes session. The Rhymes session consists of a mix of our favourite nursery rhymes and action songs as well as exciting parachute songs and games.

Myself and partner took our 6month old to musical Wednesday in the sensory room & she absolutely loved it and was rolling around like a lunatic! It was nice that other fathers were there too which you don't see often due to work commitments. The teacher was lovely & explained all the sections of the room. We will definitely go back to try out another themed class.
My 15 week old had a great time at the musical babies session today he was so tired and would normally cry if he hadn't slept but he was so calm and mesmerised by the lights and toys and fell asleep towards the end of the session without any fuss which he wouldn't normally do!
I took my 19 month old to the chatty Tuesday session today. He absolutely loved it, he was able to explore the sensory room himself for the first part of the session, where nic who led the session was interacting and reading him stories! My little boy is very active, and nic was able to provide many different resources for him to keep him interested and enjoying the whole 50minutes! The session ended with a brilliant story with props that my son loved joining in with! The room is very well equipped, welcoming and so clean. A definite must visit!
Been to my first session today, what a lovely way to spend a Monday morning! Will be back next week!

Took my niece today for the musical group. The sensory room was great, fantastic resources and completely safe to just let her toddle/crawl around and explore by herself. She was fascinated by the colours, textures and sounds. She loved joining in with the instruments and singing songs. Lovely, understanding staff. Thanks
