Youth Work

The MegaCentre Rayleigh Youth Work team works with young people aged 10-19 providing a diverse programme of groups, clubs, activities and services, assisting in this challenging life stage.  The youth work team seek to help young people to learn new skills, develop confidence, explore new opportunities, engage with education, live healthy lifestyles, achieve employment and make a positive contribution to their community.

We do this though:

  • In-school complimentary education
  • Group Work programmes
  • Detached Youth Work
  • One-to-one support

Youth Club

Tuesdays – 7:00-9:00pm

Term time only

An open Youth Club session for all young people in school year 8 and above.

Space to chat and hang out

Activities include: Sports, Pool, Computer Gaming, Café, Games, Movies, Music

Alpha Sigma Delta

1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, 7pm - 8.30pm

Alpha Sigma Delta is run in partnership between the Megacentre and the charity, SAFE (Supporting Asperger Families in Essex).

This a girls' group for Secondary School-aged girls who are on the Autism Spectrum and their parents.
A formal diagnosis of Autism is not required. We are a friendly, relaxed and welcoming group. Come and find out for yourself!

Facilities include: arts and craft activities, Xbox1, Wii, pool tables, group games and other activities.

Every Thursday – 16:00 to 18:00

The Be Project is a space for young women aged 13+ to come and be themselves in a friendly and fun environment. Some weeks we will chat and chill, some weeks we will make stuff, some weeks we will just eat cake and drink hot chocolate.

XL Mentoring

The XL Mentoring Project matches young people with trained community mentors to provide 1-2-1 support and someone who can listen. Mentors meet with young people most weeks either for a milkshake or game of pool either at the Megacentre or another public place.

Youth Work Training

Our Youth Work Training Programme is designed for our team of volunteer youth workers, but is also open to everyone who works with young people locally.

Sessions are delivered either by our in-house professional youth work team or with outside tutors and cover themes such as: Principles of Youth Work, Safeguarding, Programme Planning, Healthy Lifestyles, Teambuilding and Communication

Standard training sessions are free to anyone who would like to be involved – as the programme grows there may be opportunities for additional programmes which could incur a small cost
