About us
The Megacentre is wholly owned by a registered charity – Active Christian Trust (Reg. No. 1015452). The charity was set up in 1992 with the purpose of opening the Centre as a Youth and Community facility for the benefit of the community. From the outset, it was recognized that income would need to be generated to pay all the expenses and staffing of the building including especially our Family & Community Team. The Centre was first opened in April 1994 with the Megazone Laser Arena and the Youth Centre. Other facilities such as Soft Play, Sensory Room, Theatre, Music Practice Rooms, and Conference Rooms were added as finances permitted.
Although the Centre is owned by a Christian charity, it is open to all – it exists to help bring Joy, Hope and Life to the whole community.
Joy
We believe God wants us to experience and live in his unshakable joy. What is this joy? It’s joy as in fun. Joy as in deep happiness. True joy from God doesn’t come from living in a bubble, nor does it come from living in ignorance of the world’s pain. It comes from a real assurance that God is good and is working for good in all things. God isn’t just about our happiness, but he does want us to be happy: “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete” (John 15:11).
God wants us to trust so deeply in him and his good heart and good plans that even the world’s toughest situations don’t shake us because we know that our heavenly Father really cares for us. He wants us to walk through life at peace and rest because we are trusting in him.
But how do we get this joy? Jesus said, “Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete” (John 16:24). We receive joy from the Lord. And it comes from being in his presence. God wants you to experience deep joy — not to remove you from the world around you, but to give you the strength to live and to love others in the midst of it. Come to him and take him up on his offer.
Hope
Would you like the luxury of being able to think about the future with hope? Do you have regrets about your past that you would rather not think about?
We believe there is a God who wants the best for us and longs for us to turn to him and find hope for the future and healing from the past. Without God life makes no sense, whereas (to quote atheist philosopher Quentin Smith) ‘we came from nothing, by nothing and for nothing’. With the variety and complexity of life on this planet as overwhelming evidence, we believe that God is our Creator and our lives have a purpose.
Life
Jesus said “I have come that you might have life, and life to the full”. What does this mean? To have life to the full, we have to recognise that there is a spiritual realm that we can access through accepting Jesus into our lives. We believe Jesus offers us forgiveness from our past with a Life full of Joy and Hope – but to embrace this we need to accept the offer!!
Take the first steps towards God and He will open the door to you and welcome you with open arms. Join with others who have done just that and who will help you find the way. There is an independent church community based at The Megacentre and they warmly invite you to join them
